Position Title: Principal Administrative Assistant

Department:  Psychological Science

Term of Assignment: Continuing

Term End Date, If Applicable:             

FLSA Status:   Non-Exempt = overtime eligible

Work Schedule: Traditionally Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm with occasional evening and weekend work required

Salary: $15.55

Travel: No travel

Brief Statement of Duties

Brief Statement of Duties: Perform clerical and administrative functions in an academic department such as drafting correspondence, scheduling appointments, organizing and maintaining paper and electronic files, budget monitoring and recommendations, placing orders for supplies, creating reports and providing information to faculty, staff, visitors, and callers.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Education: High School Graduation or Equivalent

Discipline/Degree Area: 

Required Specialized Training/Certifications: 

Required Minimum Work Experience:  Three years of progressive office work experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Attributes Required for Satisfactory Performance of the Position Duties: 

Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processors, spreadsheets, file and records management, and designing forms and reports.
Use of logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
Ability to listen, understand and communicate information and ideas in oral and written communication.
Ability to develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish the work.
Ability to monitor and work with budgets.

Additional Desirable Qualifications

Additional Desirable Qualifications: 

Knowledge of departmental and university procedures and terminology.
Ability to develop and maintain constructive working relationships within the department, university, and the public. Capable of highly accurate work.
Ability to work in a task-oriented manner.
Experience working with budgets and making recommendations on budgeting decisions.
