Proactively provide innovative ideas and creative solutions that propel Northern's business goals. Teach undergraduate courses for the Indoor and Controlled Environment Agriculture program. Course topics that may be taught and assessed include (but are not limited to): Indoor Farming Foundations, Indoor Living Environments, Innovative Growing Systems, Future Farmers, CEA Building Systems, Commercial Crop Production, Produce Safety Risk Management, CEA Commercial Property Development. Course delivery will be in both lecture and lab settings for 100, 200, 300, and 400-level courses. Additional duties include student advising, laboratory and equipment inventory and maintenance, career placement assistance, course and curriculum development, committee assignments, coordination with alumni and potential industry donors, applied research or other scholarly activities, membership in professional organizations, and application of technology in a learning environment. This three-year term position as an Assistant Professor of Hospitality Leadership within the College of Technology and Occupational Sciences is a campus-based position. This position will develop and teach various undergraduate courses in the lecture and laboratory format, including but not limited to courses such as Professional Cooking I and II, Food Service Sanitation, Procurement, Cost Control, Human Resources, Menu Development, Financial Management, and Operations Plan and Design. Included within some course work is the operation of the program's on-campus restaurant and course/program events serving the community. The faculty is responsible for course development to meet the needs of established objectives, assessing student learning outcomes, and advising students for individualized success. Course development is collaboration-oriented to serve the student and industry. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the faculty will provide service to the department and university with selective program leadership responsibilities and committee assignments. The faculty will assist with the marketing and administration of the program as needed, seek professional development, participate in extracurricular service opportunities, and perform other assignments per departmental needs. This is a campus based position.
