Position Title: Food Service Worker I-Barista
Department: Dining Services-Starbucks
Term of Assignment: Continuing
Term End Date, If Applicable:  
FLSA Status:  Non-Exempt = overtime eligible
Work Schedule: Variable shifts/days/locations including afternoon and weekend shifts. The typical shift start time is between the hours of 6:30 am and 12 pm.
Salary: $15.79 starting; $16.58 working
Travel: No travel
Brief Statement of Duties
Brief Statement of Duties: Under routine supervision, provide skills and perform a variety of duties necessary to engage in the service to customers at Starbucks, banquets and catering, and retail operations. Prepare and sell various beverages, food and retail items while providing excellent customer service and maintaining store standards. Perform similar retail and catering service duties throughout the year, and in the summer, as determined by operational needs of the Dining Services Department.
Minimum Qualifications
Required Education: High School Graduation or Equivalent
Discipline / Degree Area:  
Required Specialized Training/Certifications: Valid drivers license (required for 12 month positions).
Food Service Sanitation Certification (ServSafe or MI) or ability to obtain within six months from start of employment.
Required Minimum Work Experience: One year experience in a Barista concept retail store and/or retail restaurant which includes experience utilizing computerized cash registers and handling cash.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Attributes Required for Satisfactory Performance of the Position Duties: Customer and Personal Service-Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes guest needs assessment, meeting quality store standards for services and evaluation of guest satisfaction.
Strong time management skills as demonstrated by experience.
Politeness, being courteous, tactful and helpful in dealing with the public and members of the University community.
Active Listening-Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.

Ability to sign a confidentiality agreement.
Ability to assess customer orders, through the mobile ordering platform or store location, and expedite beverage/food to the guest at the hand off counter or mobile order pickup location.
Oral Comprehension-The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
Manual Dexterity-The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or tow hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
Problem Sensitivity-The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.
The physical capability to perform all of the duties and responsibilities of the positions, with or without reasonable accommodations.
