Position Title: Success Advisor or Senior Success Advisor

Department:  Student Success

Term of Assignment: Continuing

Term End Date, If Applicable:             

FLSA Status:   Exempt = not eligible for overtime

Work Schedule: Traditionally Monday-Friday 8:00am to 5:00 pm with occasional evening and weekend work required.
One position available with the potential to be filled at any of the listed levels consistent with the selected
applicant's experience. Levels include: Success Advisor or Senior Success Advisor.

Salary: Targeted Salary Range: Success Advisor: $40,720-$43,700; Senior Success Advisor: $48,160-$51,700

Travel: Less than 10%

 

Brief Statement of Duties

Brief Statement of Duties: Success Advisor:
Provide holistic support to students, empowering and guiding them in the development, pursuit, and achievement of their academic, personal and professional goals. Work collaboratively with their advising team and faculty/staff colleagues to develop, implement, and refine efforts to increase student retention and completion. Support students throughout the entire life cycle from entry through degree/credential completion, including working with prospective students.


Senior Success Advisor:
Provide holistic support to students, empowering and guiding them in the development, pursuit, and achievement of their academic, personal, and professional goals. Work collaboratively with their advising team and faculty/staff colleagues to develop, implement, and refine efforts to increase student retention and completion. Support students throughout the entire life cycle from entry through degree/credential completion, including working with prospective students. Participate in and/or leads initiatives or programs essential to student success.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree

Required Minimum Work Experience:  Success Advisor:
One year of professional experience (including graduate assistant experience) with academic advising, admissions counseling, academic support programs, residence life, or other work that relates to student affairs.


Senior Success Advisor:
Bachelor's Degree with four years of professional experience (including graduate assistant experience) with academic advising, admissions counseling, academic support programs, residence life, or other work that relates to student affairs OR a Master's Degree with two years of professional experience (including graduate assistant experience) with academic advising, admissions counseling, academic support programs, residence life, or other work that relates to student affairs.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Attributes Required for Satisfactory Performance of the Position Duties: 

Success Advisor and Senior Success Advisor:
Knowledge of effective advising and student success practices.
Understanding of diverse, holistic needs of students and strategies for best meeting the needs of individuals and groups of students.
Ability to relate to and effectively communicate with college students.
Ability to help students navigate university systems, policies, and processes and to make effective referrals when necessary.
Self-directed and able to work autonomously while also working effectively and collaboratively as a member of a team.
Use of quantitative and qualitative data to inform decisions.
Ability to interact with diverse groups of students, faculty, staff, and outside constituents in a manner which positively reflects upon the advising office and the university.
Strong attention to detail and individual accountability.
Experience and skill with computer applications including word processing, email, spreadsheets, and reporting.
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
Ability to work a flexible work schedule, including weekends and evenings.

 

Additional Desirable Qualifications

Additional Desirable Qualifications: 

Master's Degree.
Knowledge and experience working with at-risk students.
