Work Schedule: | While in the Police Academy, typically dayshift Monday-Friday. Upon successful completion of the academy, the police officer shifts are either 10 or 12 hours shifts, variable days. Will be attending an academy in Traverse City Michigan. |

Brief Statement of Duties | |
Brief Statement of Duties: | To attend the NMU Regional Police Academy, perform all assigned class work, attend all scheduled sessions and complete all other assignments given by the coordinator or instructors of the Academy. Perform other assigned duties from the Chief of Police or designee. Upon successful completion of the academy will perform the duties of a Police Officer: to assist the Chief-of-Police/Director-Safety in providing a safe environment for members of the University community. Enforce laws, regulations, ordinances and provide safeguards for University and private property. |

Required Specialized Training/Certifications: | Associates Degree upon completion of the academy. Must meet the minimum standards of the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES) IAW P.A. 203 to attend a regional Police Academy. Reading, writing and physical fitness tests need to be completed prior to three weeks from the posting closing date.
