Position Title: Police Officer

Work Schedule: 12 hour shifts, 80 hours in a two week pay period; 7:00 am-7:00 pm and 7:00 pm - 7:00 am
Salary: $27.58 starting; $28.81 working
Travel: Less than 10%
Brief Statement of Duties
Brief Statement of Duties: To assist the Chief-of-Police/Director-Safety in providing a safe environment for members of the University community. Enforce laws, regulations, ordinances and provide safeguards for University and private property.
Minimum Qualifications
Required Education: High School Graduation or Equivalent
Discipline / Degree Area:  
Required Specialized Training/Certifications: Must meet minimum standards of the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards IAW P.A. 203.
Must have attended and graduated from a regional police academy and be licensable upon hiring.
Valid operators permit with a good driving record.
Required Minimum Work Experience: None
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Attributes Required for Satisfactory Performance of the Position Duties: Knowledge of relevant public safety and security equipment, policies, procedures and strategies to promote effective local, state or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.
Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers.
Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.
Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
