Brief Statement of Duties
Brief Statement of Duties: Teach courses and labs in Physics (lower and upper level), participate in outcome assessment, participate in department service activities, and perform other assignments as per departmental needs. This is a campus based position.
Minimum Qualifications
Required Education: Doctorate or equivalent terminal degree
Discipline / Degree Area: Physics
Required Specialized Training/Certifications:  
Required Minimum Work Experience: An earned doctorate in Physics by June 30, 2024.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Attributes Required for Satisfactory Performance of the Position Duties: -Commitment to undergraduate education and demonstrated excellence in teaching.
-Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing with peers and students.
-Ability to work effectively and productively with others.
-Time management skills.
-Ability to develop and deliver curriculum.
-Ability to assess student-learning outcomes.
-Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Additional Desirable Qualifications
Additional Desirable Qualifications: -Previous teaching experience at the undergraduate level for both majors in physics (lower and upper level courses), and non-majors (algebra based intro courses).
-Ability and desire to teach astronomy courses (lecture and lab).
-Experience with academic learning outcomes assessment both at the course level and the program level.
-Engage in reasonable scholarship, preferably with NMU students.
