Brief Statement of Duties
Brief Statement of Duties: Teach three courses per semester, as assigned.
Research, presentations and publications.
Participate in service.
This is a campus-based position.
Minimum Qualifications
Required Education: Doctorate or equivalent terminal degree
Discipline / Degree Area: Sociology
Required Specialized Training/Certifications:  
Required Minimum Work Experience: None
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Attributes Required for Satisfactory Performance of the Position Duties: Ability to teach introductory sociology, upper-level courses in gender and sexuality, and other upper-level sociology courses as needed.
Research expertise in the area of Gender and Sexuality.
Strong potential for research and publication relevant to the position, including the ability to maintain an active scholarly research agenda.
Ability to establish an active research agenda with students,
Ability to work well with an instructional team, including but not limited to fellow instructors and assistants.
Commitment to undergraduate education.
Ability to develop and deliver curriculum.
Ability to promote department's concentration in social justice.
Additional Desirable Qualifications
Additional Desirable Qualifications: Previous university teaching experience.
Previous experience teaching Sociology and/or Gender and Sexuality.
Emphasis on social justice and social inequality
Publications in peer reviewed journals.
Sociology conference presentations.
Experience or ability to engage students in research endeavors.
Experience with research grants.
Potential for collaborative research.
Commitment to the mission of a public comprehensive university.
Ability to enhance and build on the curriculum offered by the sociology program.
