Brief Statement of Duties |
Brief Statement of Duties: |
Perform original and complex metadata treatment and authority work of library and archival materials in a variety of formats. Provide leadership and expertise for organizing print and digital collections (library, archives, institutional repository) and contribute to the development and implementation of relevant policies, procedures, and systems. As a member of the library faculty, this librarian will participate in collection development and instruction related to assigned academic departments. Faculty are expected to engage in professional development and/or scholarship and service. This is a campus based position. |

Information and/or Library Science from ALA-accredited school or ALA-approved foreign equivalent |

Required Minimum Work Experience: |
Previous library or higher education experience, which could include internships, part-time positions, or comparable experience. |
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Attributes Required for Satisfactory Performance of the Position Duties: |
Experience with library and archival content standards (RDA, DACS), encoding formats (MARC, EAD, Dublin Core), controlled vocabularies (LCSH, AAT), and classification schemes (Library of Congress Classification, Dewey Decimal Classification) standards. Experience with OCLC and local integrated library systems and/or experience with a digital asset management system such as Islandora. Demonstrated problem-solving and workflow analysis skills, as well as an aptitude for complex, analytical work with attention to detail and organization. Experience with the concepts and software/hardware applications used in organizing and presenting digital information. Demonstrated ability to prioritize, plan, coordinate, and implement multiple projects. Knowledge of archival metadata schemes and evolving standards, such as DACS, EAD, and Dublin Core. Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Strong commitment to enhancing service through teamwork and responsiveness to faculty, students, and colleagues. Strong commitment to work in a respectful, professional, and collaborative manner. |

Experience with Alma or another integrated library system. Professional experience providing library reference. Experience with a collection management system such as ArchivesSpace. Experience teaching at the college/university level. |
