Brief Statement of Duties
Brief Statement of Duties: A successful candidate will be responsible for a 3/3 load (12 credits per semester), comprised of primarily teaching undergraduate composition courses within the General Education program and mentoring as well as teaching graduate students, in addition to participating in vibrant graduate programs. The candidate is expected to maintain an active research agenda within the discipline and contribute to advising and to service at the department and university levels. This is an on-campus position.
Minimum Qualifications
Required Education: Doctorate or equivalent terminal degree
Discipline / Degree Area: Ph.D. in Composition and Rhetoric, Ph.D. in English with a specialization in a related field, or Ph.D. in Writing and Rhetoric or related degree.
Required Specialized Training/Certifications:  
Required Minimum Work Experience: A minimum of four (4) semesters of instruction as teacher of record at the college-level; graduate teaching assistant experience accepted.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Attributes Required for Satisfactory Performance of the Position Duties: Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively

Commitment to and experience with learners of all abilities and backgrounds

Scholarly achievement in composition and/or closely related field

Ability to demonstrate commitment to innovative and effective pedagogies

Experience with integrating technology, digital resources, and learning management systems into one’s pedagogy

Interest and/or ability to develop new curriculum in first-year and graduate programs

Ability to participate in ongoing assessment practices across course, department, and university levels

Additional Desirable Qualifications
Additional Desirable Qualifications: Candidates with a willingness to become Director of Composition or Director of the Writing Center, as well as candidates with experience supporting writing program administration or writing center administration, are strongly encouraged to apply.

Specializations in writing program administration, writing center pedagogy, developmental pedagogies, integrated reading/writing, college literacy, assessment, eco-composition, gender and sexuality theory, critical pedagogies, social justice theory, digital humanities/digital pedagogies, TESOL/TESL would complement our faculty, interests, and curricula.
