Brief Statement of Duties
Brief Statement of Duties: Teach a wide range of courses in the BFA including; Acting, levels 100 through 400 (classical period styles to advanced modern techniques), and Stage Voice/Movement, levels 100 through 300.
Other possible teaching assignments may include classes in; musical theatre, audition techniques, directing, script analysis, entertainment careers and/or select topics within the department’s BA acting program.
Direct 1-2 productions for the Department of Theatre & Dance per academic year.
Assist in recruitment of students for the BFA Acting, BFA Musical Theatre, and BA in Theatre programs.
Other responsibilities in the BFA in Acting area include; advising students in the program, curriculum coordination, jury coordination, direction of the senior showcase, class content creation within the program, and cross discipline coordination other programs within the Theatre and Dance major. This is a campus-based position.
Minimum Qualifications
Required Education: MFA
Discipline / Degree Area: Acting Performance
Required Specialized Training/Certifications: MFA in Performance or (BA/BFA) with at least (5) years of significant and nationally recognized professional experience deemed equivalent to an advanced degree.
Required Minimum Work Experience: 1-3 years teaching experience at the college/university level or professional equivalent.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Attributes Required for Satisfactory Performance of the Position Duties: Enjoy working collaboratively and collegially in a fast-paced educational environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a dedication to teaching.
Strong commitment towards equity, diversity, and inclusion as it relates to casting, production, and classroom experiences.
Additional Desirable Qualifications
Additional Desirable Qualifications: Ability to teach and/or choreograph Stage Combat is very desirable
Affiliations with AEA, SAG-AFTRA and/or SDC unions are strongly desirable.
Professional acting and/or directing experience at the Regional and/or Broadway level strongly desired.
