Brief Statement of Duties
Brief Statement of Duties: Process all gifts received by the NMU Foundation. Also process all pledges received through the Annual Giving Call Center. Receive and deposit all donations of: cash, credit card, stock, payroll deduction, and gifts-in-kind to the NMU Foundation, WNMU TV/FM, NMU departments, programs and affinity clubs. Post to the Banner system and process all donations by computing, coding, classifying and processing numerical data to keep financial and donor records accurate and complete. Perform accurate posting and verifying duties to create primary financial data for use in maintaining accounting records and for reporting. Respond to questions related to the financial posting and donor/member coding from donors, affinity club members, NMU departmental staff, and Advancement staff. Create and maintain major gift records by coding and recording pledges and gift payments to maintain and develop key associations with administrators and development officers. Enter journal entries to Banner and perform some reconciling tasks.
Minimum Qualifications

Required Minimum Work Experience: Three years' office work experience with primary duties in accounting.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Attributes Required for Satisfactory Performance of the Position Duties: Knowledge:
Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, spreadsheet documents, managing files and records, designing forms, bookkeeping and accounting, and other office procedures and terminology.

Possess reconciliation skills to balance work batches, make deposits and fix any discrepancies found in posting.
Critical thinking skills to code, classify, and process certain categories of gifts and pledges in the Banner computer system.
Must communicate effectively in writing and speaking as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
Ability to manage one's own time to process all gifts in a timely fashion and perform other tasks as needed.

Ability to handle materials of a confidential and sensitive nature.
Attention to detail for accurate entry of gift postings.
Ability to develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work.
Ability to utilize software applications such as Excel, Microsoft Office Suite and e-mail.
Ability to perform complex computerized tasks.
Additional Desirable Qualifications
Additional Desirable Qualifications: Banner software experience.
Flexibility and adaptability to work as part of a team.
Experience in University Advancement.
Knowledge of credit card terminal processes, online banking applications, ACH processes.
