Position Title: General Manager-Golf Course
Department: Auxiliary Services
Term of Assignment: One-year term
Term End Date, If Applicable:  
FLSA Status:  Exempt = not eligible for overtime
Work Schedule: 10 month position; variable work schedule including weekend and evening hours.
Salary: Targeted prorated salary range: $41,200-$44,300
Travel: Less than 10%
Brief Statement of Duties
Brief Statement of Duties: Responsible for overseeing and providing direction in all aspects of the Northern Michigan University Golf Course management including golf operations, course maintenance, facilities and equipment, budgeting, customer service, sales and marketing, and supervision of staff. Serve as subject matter expert in the technical aspects of administration, management, and provision of golf activities and maintenance operations.

Required Specialized Training/Certifications:  
Required Minimum Work Experience: Three years' supervisory experience in golf course operations or similar facility with assigned duties in specialized areas such as resource management, retail operations, customer service, administration, programming, or facilities maintenance.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Attributes Required for Satisfactory Performance of the Position Duties: Possess a high degree of administrative and executive ability, especially in terms of problem solving and decision making.
Ability to demonstrate strong public relations and communications skills.
Ability to work under minimum supervision and assume responsibility for initiative and completion of work.
Ability to demonstrate strong skills for detail and accuracy.
Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with local golf courses.
Basic knowledge of golf.
Knowledge of point of sale system and budgeting.
Possess strong human resource skills, including the ability to work with a college age personnel base.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other University departments, local township government, and the general public.
Ability to multitask and work under pressure.
Additional Desirable Qualifications
Additional Desirable Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree.
Coursework in Management, Business Administration, Hospitality, or related field.
Advanced knowledge of agronomy and turf-grass management practices.
